Subconscious mind
What exactly is Subconscious mind?
Subconscious Mind is the part of our
brain that we don't use often. We tend to think that we have a conscious mind
and subconscious mind. But actually, the subconscious mind is just a small
portion of our total brain power. Our subconscious mind is responsible for
automatic behaviors and actions. There are many things going on in our brains
that we aren't aware of.
Our brain consists of three parts;
the cerebrum, the cerebellum, and the brain stem. The cerebrum contains the
neocortex, limbic system, and basal ganglia. The cerebellum controls balance
and coordination. The brain stem is involved in basic bodily functions.
The subconscious mind is located in
the limbic system. The limbic system is the center of emotions and memory. The
limbic system includes the amygdala, hippocampus, hypothalamus, thalamus, and
pituitary gland. The amygdala is the emotional center of the brain. It
processes information about fear, anger, joy, and sadness. The hippocampus
stores memories. The hypothalamus regulates body temperature and hunger. The
thalamus relays messages between the cerebral cortex and the limbic system.
Finally, the pituitary gland produces hormones.
There are two types of thoughts that
occur in our minds. One type is called voluntary thought. Voluntary thought
occurs when we choose to think something. Voluntary thought is controlled by
the prefrontal cortex. The other type is involuntary thought. Involuntary
thought occurs without our control. Involuntary thought is controlled by
subcortical structures.
Involuntary thought is divided into
two categories. First, there is unconscious thought. Unconscious thought
happens without us knowing it. Unconscious thought is controlled by the limbic
system. Second, there is conscious thought. Conscious thought is controlled by
the frontal lobe. Conscious thought is what we call thinking.
Unconscious thought is divided into
two types. First, there is preconscious thought. Preconscious thought occurs
before we become consciously aware of it. Preconscious thought is controlled by
sensory input. Second, there is subconscious thought. Subconscious thought
occurs after we become consciously aware of something. Subconscious thought is
controlled by emotional responses.
Conscious thought is divided into two
parts. First, there is explicit thought. Explicit thought is conscious thought
that we are aware of. Explicit thought is controlled by the neocortex. Second,
there is implicit thought. Implicit thought is not conscious thought. Implicit
thought occurs without our awareness. Implicit thought is controlled by the
subcortical structures of the brain.
Implicit thought is divided into two
different categories. First, there are pre-consious thoughts. Pre-conscious
thoughts happen before we become consciously aware. Pre-conscious thoughts are
controlled by sensory input. Secondly, there are subconscious thoughts.
Subconscious thoughts occur after we become consciously aware. Subconscious
thoughts are controlled by emotional responses.
Subconscious Mind - What is it?
The subconscious mind is our natural instinctive mind. It
controls everything we do automatically without us even knowing about it. Our
subconscious mind is responsible for controlling our body’s automatic
functions, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. We use our conscious mind to
control our actions, while our subconscious mind controls our unconscious
actions.
Our subconscious mind is always working behind the scenes,
whether we are aware of it or not. It controls our body's automatic functions,
emotions, and behaviors. It is the basis of our personality and character. It
is the root of our instincts, drives, and desires. It is the driving force
behind our daily activities.
It is the innermost core of our being. It is the hidden power
inside us. It is the source of our intuition, creativity, and spiritual
awareness. It is the foundation of our memory, learning, and intelligence. It
is the center of our emotional makeup. It is the secret place where our true
self resides. It is the storehouse of our beliefs, values, attitudes, and
memories.
We have two minds:
• Conscious Mind (Consciousness)
• Subconscious Mind (Subconsciousness)
The conscious mind is what we know as our rational thinking
brain. It is the seat of our intellect and reasoning powers. It is the part of
our mind that makes decisions, plans, analyzes problems, and solves issues. It
is the part that thinks logically and rationally. It is the part responsible
for our conscious actions.
The subconscious mind is the seat of our emotions, drives,
and desires, and it works automatically. It does not think; it only reacts. It
is the part below the threshold of consciousness. It is the source and origin
of our instincts, drives and desires. It is responsible for our unconscious
actions.
The subconscious is the root of our personality and
character, and it is the basis of our behavior. It is the source from which our
habits, traits, and tendencies stem. It is the source that gives rise to our
emotions, feelings, and reactions. It is the source behind our intuition,
creativity, spirituality, and psychic abilities. It is the source for our memory,
learning, intelligence, and analytical skills.
The subconscious mind controls our body’s autonomic
functions, including breathing, heart rate, digestion, blood pressure,
temperature regulation, immune system, sleep-wake cycles, sexual function,
hormone production, muscle tone, and many others. It controls our emotions,
drives, desires, and impulses. It controls our thoughts, beliefs, attitudes,
and memories, and it controls our behaviors.
The subconscious mind stores information in the form of
images, sounds, sensations, tastes, smells, and touch. These sensory
impressions are stored in the subconscious mind as mental pictures, sounds, and
sensations. When these sensory impressions are triggered by external stimuli,
they cause corresponding physical responses in the body.
The subconscious mind receives messages from the senses and
interprets them according to its programming. It then sends out signals to the
body to carry out the instructions received.
The subconscious mind operates outside of our conscious
awareness. It is the source, root, and origin of our instincts and drives. It
is the source underlying our emotions, feelings, perceptions, and reactions. It
controls our thoughts and beliefs, and it controls our behavior.
